(Washouts allocated on Sundays throughout the competition)

  • All teams have until 30th August to have the following amount of players registered to secure their team in the competition: U6 & U8 divisions must have 7 players paid for before the commencement of the competition to be entered into the draw.

U10s and above must have 9 players paid for to be entered into the draw.

If your team does not have the required registered they will placed on the waitlist and also given refunds a week before the competition starts if they are not entered back into the competition. No exceptions will be given, all teams will be given plenty of time to be organised.

No refunds will be given due to unpredicted incidents out of our control.

(We cannot refund active kids vouchers, these will be credited to the next season)

Registrations will be OPEN for the whole competition and you're welcome to add more players to your side if needed.

  • From 2025 when you register as a player you will be prompted to pay this annual fee before actually registering for the competition you wish to play in. This will also explain briefly why you have to pay this fee and the benefits you will receive.

The player fee is $15 which is only paid once a year no matter how many comps/teams you play in.

  • To try to maintain the competitiveness of our competitions, and to give all teams a fair go, we have rules in place if your team has more than 4 representative players from the 2023-24 representative season, your team will be placed into the highest division for the age group your team is registered in.  If that age group does not have split divisions your team will be required to move up an age division. Registering a team full of representative players who play at high levels is unfair to the rest of the competition who join to play for fun and social reasons.

A current rep player is a player who played or is playing in any 2023 or 2024 Representative Tournament. This means a Rep Player at ANY OZTAG association.

Representative tournaments are your chance to play with all the friends you make playing rep Oztag. No exceptions for any team no matter how long they have been together, family members, keeping rep teams together or for any other reason.

Shirts must be correct by round 3 of the competition which means all the same colour, and style and must have an iron-on number on the back (no texta or tape).

We recommend Sportswear 3000 or

Kmart/big W are good places for cheaper shirts and numbers.

If the iron-on number comes off in the wash this is your responsibility to make sure you replace it with another one.

We also recommend purchasing an extra shirt or two in case of injuries, pullouts or shirts being misplaced so you will not be penalised.

U6 and U8s are played on a mod field with 6 players.

We allow one parent on the field from each team to help organise the game in U6/U8 divisions ONLY.

They must also have enclosed shoes when taking the field.

U10-U16's are played on a normal size field and have 8 players on the field. NO parent is allowed on the field in these ages.

Due to the increase in teams for our competition Newcastle Junior Oztag will send a message out to all teams before the FULL draw is completed. This message will ask if your team may need a be on a specific date then we can try our best to do so.

However, if your division does not have a bye or this is not asked for before the draw is completed then your team will have to forfeit that game. If your team has any school camps, dances etc towards the end of the competition and is unable to play it will be classed as a forfeit.

Representative tournaments will be taken into consideration if certain teams do not have enough players to play they will be rescheduled.

The FULL Draw will be completed after round 1 to allow for any changes to divisions to be made if needed. Times for round 1 will be messaged to team organisers and a full draw will be done and available on the website to view after round 1.

  • Teams will be asked when signing up whether they are beginner, intermediate or advanced and will be placed into a division accordingly. If your team has played before and you opt for a division that is not suited to your team due to past competition results the committee will review this and your team may be placed into another division.

If your team is completely different to the prior team please send an email to newcastlejnrs@oztag.com.au so the committee can review the team and consider your request.

For age groups that are split into divisions Newcastle Junior Oztag will take into account the experience of teams and place more experienced teams together as for new beginner teams together to be a fair competition.

Grading will not be changed after round 1 due to the full draw being done.

  • BULLYING

    RACISM

    ZERO TOLERANCE

We have zero tolerance for bullying, racism and bad sportsmanship behaviour - there will be no chances given for this type of behaviour or any unwarranted behaviour such as swearing. The player/s will be asked to sit off for the rest of the game and their name/shirt number recorded.

  • If the referee deems the behaviour is warranted a suspension we will ask both team organisers to send a report to use when they get home and the committee will decide the length of suspension.

  • The abuse of Referees WILL NOT be tolerated by parents, spectators or children playing. Long-term and lifetime bans are in place for ANYONE who abuses a referee.

  • If you have a complaint, concern or issue that the referee may not have seen as they cannot see everything or hear everything.

Please make sure that you come to the canteen to report the incident in a calm, respectful manner so we can deal with it straight away not after the incident has had time to escalate further.

We appreciate any feedback so please feel free to message us or come and see us.

  • Incorrect shirt 1st offence = 1 try per incorrect shirt to the other team

Incorrect shirt 2nd offence = 1 try per incorrect shirt to the other team and loss of 1 competition point to the team they play in.

Incorrect shirt 3rd offence = 1 try per incorrect shirt to the other team and a loss of 3 competition points to the team they play in.

The Player needs to come to the canteen to get a stamp to be allowed to take the field and must show the referee.

  • 1st Offence = Warning letter to the team organiser, loss of game.

2nd Offence = Letter to the team organiser and a loss of ALL competition points.

3rd Offence = The team will be removed from the competition.
